4 Reasons why Gareth Bale isn’t working out at Tottenham

When I first saw that Gareth Bale was returning to the Premier League with his old club I think we all stopped and said to ourselves “This is going to be interesting”. Whereas so far it’s been the complete opposite. But is it really Bale’s fault?

The Welsh star has had a difficult couple of seasons and here’s 4 reasons to why its continued while being back at Spurs.

1. Inactivity takes its toll

He simple has not been active enough to be performing at his best. Last season at Real Madrid he only made a total of 16 La Liga games with 12 of them in the starting eleven. These stats ultimately pushed him out of the club, along with the fans! Any top player in the world would be seeking more game time than that.

2. Injuries

A lot of people forget that Bale arrived at Tottenham injured. He missed several games at the start of the season while Spurs were performing well at the time. This also brings us back to my first point of not playing enough. Being injured isn’t great as you almost have to start fresh again and regain your fitness quickly, this would also have a frustrated impact on your mindset.

3. Jose Mourinho

Now, is Jose (the special one) the right manager for Gareth Bale at this point in his career? None of us know that question for sure because they haven’t crossed paths before. A lot of people automatically think because Jose and Bale were at Real Madrid they worked together. Well, they didn’t. Both were at the club on different dates. Which means they have no previous history or relationship with working together, Jose needs to learn how to get the best out of Bale.

4. Past his best

I suppose this is the real question we should be asking ourselves. Is Bale the player he use to be? In some ways no one is the player they use to be, playing styles and form changes every season. In my opinion his technical ability has always been superb, but he needs to get his confidence and mojo back. Bale will have to be patient and wait his turn for a run in the starting eleven, let’s hope the fans stay on his sideuntil then. It would be great to see him back at his best in the Premier League (unless you’re marking him).
